Piano & Organ
I am interested in performing solo and accompanying instrumentalists and singers.
I have a broad repertoire of styles, mainly classical,
and enjoy the challenge of learning new works.
I have been involved as a church musician in and around Brixham, South Devon, since 2011. I prefer modern, accessible and inclusive forms of worship that address social and contemporary issues rather than high-church rituals of full ceremonial baggage that the Reformers tried to remove! So for churches requiring a pianist or organist in Torbay I may be available but I am not seeking a position.
The organ is a curious beast to master with something of an anorak following but can be very rewarding. For texture and colour it is brilliant but I much prefer the piano for expression and sensitivity. At home I have a lovely nearly-new Grotrian-Steinweg piano.
There are piano and organ recordings on my YouTube channel digitallegro. Here are some piano samples…
Johann Sebastian Bach: Prelude and Fugue, WTC Bk. 1 No. 18 in G# minor (4 voices)
Frédéric Chopin: Nocturne, Op. 37 No. 2 in G major
Sergei Prokofiev: Sarcasms, Op. 17 No. 3 Allego precipitato
Lennox Berkeley: Six Preludes, Op. 23 No. 2 Andante
Dmitri Shostakovich: Prelude and Fugue, Op. 87 No. 5 in D major (3 voices)
